Apparently Microsoft is not yet pushing the update to Macs, instead, users are required to find the update and download it directly from the Official Microsoft Download Center. As of writing, using the Microsoft AutoUpdate to check for software updates still asks users to install the botched Office 2011 14.5.0 update, which is odd, to say the least. Remember, these preference files contain customizations you’ve made for things like toolbars, keyboard shortcuts, and custom dictionaries. If you remove them and later reinstall Office 2011, you will need to redo your customizations. While you’re in this folder, you can remove the subscriptions files. Open the “ByHost” folder, arrange everything by Name and drag anything starting with “ com.microsoft” to the Trash. When you install Office and you input your license info, it creates a file. Open “Computer” from the Go menu (you can use “Shift + Command + C”), double-click to open your system drive (it might be “Macintosh HD” unless you’ve renamed it), then open “Library -> Preferences” and drag “ com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist” to the Trash. Microsoft recommends you restart your computer at this point to remove any files that are cached in memory.

I am in need of some help. This morning i updated office 2011 - word is working fine but excel is all out of sorts. These are the messages i am getting when i try to open a file. The names of the files are showing up so i don't feel like excel was deleted or anything. Excel is showing up on the toolbar above but is giving me these messages.

(Last year, I had a problem with my new iMac using Migration Assistant which didn't migrate the complete Office files, and had to use my second key). Can you guys verify that this is the case. I've done about 25 updates on my Mac HD with no problems up to 14.5.1. Btw, I won't be going to Office 2016 because I have some Excel files with macros, and I understand that macros cannot be edited in Office 2016 (shades of the Office 2008 nonsense). Thanks, Ronz##.
